Joe Garvey—founder of USMDG—brings Clients a competitive edge through his extensive international business experience and a powerful global network. As the Co-Director of the International Executive Service Corps' (IESC) commercial services division, Garvey developed and managed products, processes, and sales networks to deliver high value projects to over 20 foreign markets and the United States.

Prior international responsibilities include business development, international partner & channel relationships, and global product & materials sourcing. International sales nearly doubled in one year under his leadership at Lumatec Industries, contributing 30% of corporate revenue. Field experience with Anheuser-Bush in Europe, Frito-Lay in Iowa, and Ingersoll-Rand in México has added to Garvey's foundation.

In addition to his consulting and business development activities, Garvey is an adjunct professor at the International Business Institute in Austin, Texas. Through his teaching, Garvey continues to expand his network of resources and uncover new methods of solving international business opportunities.

Garvey earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in Finance and Marketing, and a Master of Arts (MA) in Latin American Studies of Economics and International Business from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Iowa State University in Ames, IA, and studied abroad at Middlesex University in London, England and the Instituto Technológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in Monterrey, Mexico.

Garvey was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa where he also served in the United States Air Force National Guard & Reserve for 12 years. He now resides in Austin, TX with his wife Donata and their children Joey, Audrey, and Isabella. He is active in the Austin Westlake Rotary Club (Rotarian of the Year Award, Club Secretary, International Service Director) and Toastmasters International (past club president). He has also served on the Greater Austin International Coalition, on the Austin Community College International Business Institute advisory council, various alumni groups and civic organizations. He enjoys outside sports and completed his first running marathon in 2001.
